Corsica: Top 5 Secret Trail-to-Beach Adventures

Summer 2025: Discover Corsica's 5 most secret trail-to-beach routes! Your personal guide to nature hikes & swimming in pristine, hidden coves.

When we say Corsica, the first thing that comes to most of our minds is its legendary beaches, right? When I first set foot on the island, I too embarked with the dream of discovering that famous turquoise sea and its nearly 200 beaches, sometimes golden yellow, sometimes snow-white. I admit, this side of the island is truly captivating.

However, as I ventured deeper into Corsica's interior, I realized that this unique island was much more than just sparkling sands and azure waters. It turned out to be a hidden paradise for nature lovers too, especially with its magnificent, little-known hiking trails leading to the sea! It was then I understood that Corsica also captivates you with the outdoor activities it offers. So, I decided to step away from those crowded beaches and discovered magnificent trails where I could both soothe my soul and eventually reach the cool waters.

Just imagine: sometimes, you just want to break free from the familiar beach atmosphere, walk for hours on a pine-scented path, and then release all your fatigue into Corsica's clear waters with that famous "whoosh" sound (the original text mentions "cooss"), like plunging a hot iron into cold water. Corsica generously offers you exactly these trail-to-beach combinations you dream of, and this experience is truly enchanting.

In this guide, you'll find all the details of those little-known Corsican routes that I've personally walked and adored every corner of – special trails that offer both a nature hike and seaside enjoyment rolled into one. My aim is to give you more than just a route description; it's to share tips and my personal experiences that will hopefully allow you to relive those moments. If you're ready to discover a different side of Corsica, let's begin!

PLAGE DE SALECCIA

PLAGE DE SALECCIA

  • Distance: Approximately 12 km (round trip)
  • Duration: 4-5 hours (depending on your pace and leisurely breaks)
  • Difficulty: Moderate (be especially careful under the summer sun!)
  • Starting Point: Saint-Florent port area
  • End Point: The enchanting sands of Saleccia Beach

Getting There: The Roads to Saleccia

Once you reach Saint-Florent, here are your options for Saleccia:

  • By Private Car:
    • From Bastia to Saint-Florent: Approx. 30 km, 45 mins.
    • From Ajaccio to Saint-Florent: Approx. 150 km, 2.5-3 hours.
  • Parking: You can find free parking areas around the Saint-Florent port, but it’s wise to arrive early in summer.
  • Sea Alternative: Instead of hiking, or for your return journey, you can take a boat from Saint-Florent (approx. €20-30 per person) directly to Saleccia in about 30 minutes.

The Trail Experience: From the Heart of the Desert to Turquoise Waters

This path through the heart of the Désert des Agriates offers a true Corsican experience. The first 3 kilometers involve a gentle climb through the island's characteristic maquis scrubland, where you'll be intoxicated by the scents of lavender, rosemary, and resin filling the air. After about the 5th kilometer, the turquoise sea begins to reveal itself, and a final 2-kilometer descent brings you to the beach.

A Note From My Own Adventure: Some parts of the trail didn't seem very clear on my first visit, and I even briefly lost my way! So, keep your eyes peeled for the yellow markers and scout around, especially at trail junctions. In summer, finding shade after 9:00 AM becomes impossible, so don't forget to bring plenty of water.

About the Beach: An Untouched Corner of Paradise

Saleccia fully deserves its reputation as one of the island's purest, most untouched beaches. It greets you with its 1.5 km stretch of white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

  • Shade: There's almost no natural shade on the beach; your umbrella or beach tent will be a lifesaver.
  • Sea: The entry into the water is very gentle and shallow, making it ideal for families with children.
  • Naturism: There's usually a section for naturists on the right (eastern) side of the beach, in a quieter area.
  • Facilities: As part of its unspoiled beauty, there are no toilets, showers, or any commercial establishments on the beach. You're completely at one with nature!

Food & Drink: Get Your Picnic Basket Ready!

There are no facilities to satisfy your hunger in Saleccia's wilderness. Therefore, it's essential to prepare your picnic supplies before setting off from Saint-Florent. Here are a few suggestions:

  • U Fanale (Quai Bagni): Local cheeses, charcuterie, and delicious sandwiches.
  • Boulangerie Mattei (Rue Nationale): Freshly baked bread, the famous "pain bagnat."
  • Casino Supermarché: For water, fruit, and all your other needs.

Accommodation: Where to Stay in Saint-Florent

There are options for every budget in and around Saint-Florent:

  • Hotel Dolce Notte: €120-180/night. (Close to the sea, a "no AC but charming" option.)
  • Camping Kalliste: €25-40/night. (2 km from the beach, well-equipped campsite.)
  • Gîte A Stella: €80-120/night. (Self-catering, a local guesthouse experience.) (Prices vary by season, it's worth checking.)

Seasonal Suggestions: The Best Time for Saleccia

  • Ideal Period: May-June and September-October. The weather is wonderful, the sea is pleasant, and it's less crowded.
  • Things to Note: July-August can be extremely hot and crowded. Winter months (December-February) can be rainy.
  • Nature's Colors: In April-May, the maquis vegetation blooms; hiking amidst the scents of lavender and cistus (rockrose) is a delight.

Camping Situation: Respect for Nature is Key

Camping is officially prohibited on Saleccia Beach and in the Désert des Agriates. There are many well-equipped campsites in Saint-Florent and the surrounding area. If you're considering "wild camping," please be mindful not to damage this sensitive ecosystem and leave no trace behind.

Essentials to Bring!

Your must-haves for this adventure:

  • At least 3 liters of water per person
  • High-factor sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • Beach umbrella or tent
  • Snorkel and water shoes (for those clear waters!)
  • A small first-aid kit
  • A bag for all your trash

2. CALA DI TUARA - Cap Corse's Hidden Paradise

CALA DI TUARA

CALA DI TUARA

Tucked away like an eagle's nest on the northwestern tip of the Cap Corse peninsula, Cala di Tuara is truly a paradise waiting to be discovered. The path leading to this cove will unveil the peninsula's dramatic and unforgettable landscapes.

Route ID: Technical Details

Technical details for accessing this hidden beauty of Cap Corse:

  • GPS Coordinates: Trailhead (near Centuri Port): 42.9667°N, 9.3500°E | Tuara Cove: 42.9833°N, 9.3667°E
  • Distance: Approximately 8 km (round trip)
  • Duration: 3-4 hours (including breaks for views and photos)
  • Difficulty: Moderate-Hard (Beware of some steep descents/ascents and wind!)
  • Starting Point: The picturesque Centuri Port
  • End Point: The pristine cove of Cala di Tuara

Getting There: The Roads to Tuara

What you need to know for arriving in Centuri and starting the trail:

  • By Private Car:
    • From Bastia to Centuri: Approx. 55 km, 1 hour 15 mins (Be prepared for Cap Corse's narrow and winding roads!)

  • Parking: You can find free parking at Centuri port, but spaces are limited, especially in summer.
  • Road Warning: The D80 road环绕Cap Corse is generally very narrow with sharp turns. If you're traveling with a large vehicle, extra caution is advised.

The Trail Experience: In the Footsteps of Wind and History

The Cala di Tuara trail is one of Cap Corse's most characteristic and dramatic routes. After the first 2 kilometers of gentle ascent, you'll feel like you're on top of the world as you follow the ridge. But be warned, the wind can be quite strong in this area! The abandoned Genoese watchtowers and ancient ruins you'll encounter along the way add a mysterious air to the route. The final 1-kilometer descent to the cove can be quite steep and rocky, so watch your step, as the ground can be slippery.

Watch Out! The Wrath of the Gulls: I had an unforgettable moment here too. It was June, right in the midst of the seagulls' nesting season, and I unexpectedly found myself in the middle of a gull "attack"! If you're hiking here during this period (especially May-June), I recommend holding a tall object like a stick above your head or using your hat as a shield and walking briskly. They're just trying to protect their nests, so the best thing is to stay calm and pass by without disturbing them.

About the Beach: Small, Wild, and Enchanting

Cala di Tuara is a small but incredibly enchanting cove, ideal for those who aren't fond of large sandy beaches.

  • Structure: It generally has a pebbly beach and natural turquoise pools formed by the surrounding rocks.
  • Sea: The water is so clear that snorkeling here is a special pleasure. You can observe colorful fish and marine life.
  • Activity: If you're brave, you can jump into the water from the low surrounding rocks (but always check the depth first!).
  • Shade: Natural shade is very limited; you'll usually only find some coolness at the base of large rocks.

Food & Drink: Centuri's Culinary Stops

There are no facilities at Cala di Tuara cove. Therefore, you'll need to get your food and drinks from Centuri:

  • Restaurant du Port (Centuri): For fresh seafood and especially the famous Centuri lobster (prices around €40-60).
  • A Macciotta (Centuri): Local fish varieties and a great harbor view (€25-35).
  • Épicerie Centuri (Centuri Village Center): A small grocery store for basic needs, water, snacks, and sandwich ingredients.

Accommodation: Where to Stay in Centuri and Surroundings

If you wish to stay in this quiet corner of Cap Corse:

  • Le Vieux Moulin (Centuri): €100-150/night (An authentic hotel with sea views).
  • Chambres d'hôtes A Torra (Centuri): €70-90/night (A welcoming family-run B&B).
  • Camping Municipal (Macinaggio): €20-30/night (The nearest well-equipped campsite, about 15 km from Centuri). (Prices vary by season, it's recommended to get current information.)

Seasonal Suggestions: The Best Time for Tuara

  • Ideal Period: From May to September, when the wind is generally calmer and the sea is enjoyable.
  • To Be Avoided: Winter months (November-March) can be quite stormy and unsuitable for hiking.
  • Important Warning (Gull Season): June in particular (sometimes late May) is the nesting season when gulls can be aggressive. Don't forget my experience above!

Camping Situation: Let's Protect Nature

Camping is strictly forbidden at Cala di Tuara beach and its surroundings. For the nearest official campsite, you'll need to head to Macinaggio.

Essentials to Bring!

What you should have in your backpack for this adventurous Cap Corse exploration:

  • At least 2-3 liters of water
  • A lightweight, windproof jacket
  • Snorkeling gear (for those clear waters!)
  • Sturdy hiking shoes with non-slip soles
  • Camera (the views are unmissable!)
  • Sunscreen and hat

3. PLAGE DE ROCCAPINA - A Break in the Shadow of Lion Rock

PLAGE DE ROCCAPINA

PLAGE DE ROCCAPINA

In southwestern Corsica, embraced by wild nature, Roccapina Beach and the majestic Lion Rock (Lion de Roccapina) offer one of the island's most iconic landscapes. Both relatively easy to access and unforgettable in experience, this route is ideal, especially for families and those who want to witness impressive beauty without too much exertion.

Route ID: Technical Details

  • Road Condition: The main road (N196) is paved and comfortable. The last few kilometers of unpaved dirt road to the beach may require slow and careful driving but are suitable for most passenger cars.

The Trail Experience: A Pleasant Walk Towards the Lion

The walk at Roccapina is less strenuous than other routes but just as enjoyable. Mostly flat paths meander through fragrant maquis scrubland, leading you to the beach. Seeing wild orchids blooming in the spring is an added bonus! After enjoying the beach, I highly recommend setting aside an extra 30-45 minutes to climb the famous Lion Rock. The panoramic view from the summit is truly breathtaking!

An Unforgettable Sunset Adventure: One of my most special memories at Roccapina was watching the sunset from the top of Lion Rock. The colors, the atmosphere... indescribable! However, this magical moment came with a small price; as darkness fell szybko, we had to rely on our flashlights on the way back. If you're also aiming for sunset, be sure to bring a headlamp or flashlight and be careful on your return.

About the Beach: Golden Sands and an Iconic Rock

Roccapina Beach welcomes you with its wide, golden sands.

  • Lion Rock: The massive granite rock formation that gives the beach its name and makes it unique, sculpted by wind and waves to resemble a sleeping lion, is impressive from every angle.
  • Sea: The water is generally shallow, clear, and warm, making it a great option for families with children.
  • Shade: Although natural shade is limited on the beach, the rocks at the foot of Lion Rock offer secluded spots for resting.
  • Wind: Due to its location, waves can be present on windy days.

Food & Drink: Head to Sartène for Delicacies

There are no food or drink facilities at Roccapina Beach. You'll need to get your picnic supplies or plan a meal break in the nearest town, Sartène:

  • Pizzeria A Funtana (Sartène): Delicious pizzas and pastas (€15-25).
  • Spar Sartène (Sartène): For your grocery shopping and general needs.

Camping Situation: One with Nature (Responsibly!)

Although there's no official campsite at Roccapina Beach and its surroundings, some travelers can be seen "wild camping." If you consider such an experience, please show maximum respect for nature: absolutely do not leave trash, do not light fires, and do not harm the environment. Protecting these beauties is everyone's responsibility.

Essentials to Bring!

Things that will make your Roccapina trip more enjoyable:

  • Sun umbrella or beach tent
  • Suitable, non-slip shoes/sandals for climbing Lion Rock
  • Flashlight or headlamp for after sunset

4. CALA ROSSA - The Turquoise Heart of the Lavezzi Islands

In the Strait of Bonifacio, famous for its granite rocks that seem to have come from another planet, the Lavezzi Islands are one of the most captivating getaways on Corsica's southern tip. Cala Rossa, one of this archipelago's most famous coves, is practically a paradise on earth. This isn't just a beach; it's also part of a unique nature reserve.

Route ID: Technical Details

Basic information for this unique island adventure:

  • GPS Coordinates: Bonifacio Port (Departure): 41.3875°N, 9.1594°E | Cala Rossa (Lavezzi Island): 41.3444°N, 9.2500°E (approximate)
  • Hiking Distance on the Island: Approx. 3-4 km on marked trails on Île Lavezzi
  • Duration: Excluding the boat trip, 2-4 hours on the island (depending on your exploration and swimming breaks)
  • Difficulty: Easy (clear paths, gently undulating terrain)
  • Starting Point: Boats departing from Bonifacio Port. The hike begins from the moment you set foot on Lavezzi Island.
  • End Point: Cala Rossa primarily, along with various other coves and points of discovery on the island.

Getting There: Arriving at the Lavezzi Islands

Access to this natural wonder is entirely by sea:

  • By Land to Bonifacio:
    • From Ajaccio to Bonifacio Port: Approx. 130 km, 2.5 hours.
    • From Porto-Vecchio to Bonifacio Port: Approx. 30 km, 30 minutes.
  • By Boat to Lavezzi: Regular day-trip boat tours depart from Bonifacio Port. (The per-person fee is usually around €25-35 and may vary depending on the tour's inclusions).
  • Parking: There are usually paid parking lots around Bonifacio port (around €5-10 per day).

The Trail Experience: A Walk Among Granite Giants

The Lavezzi Islands are, as a whole, a protected Nature Reserve. After arriving by boat, you're greeted by well-marked trails. Your walk along these paths will take you through some of the island's most striking features: a massive, wind-sculpted granite rock formations (known locally as "tafoni"). These routes are generally easy and cater to visitors of all ages. The island's botanical diversity is also noteworthy; you can see many endemic plant species here.

My Personal Observation: The Lavezzi Islands possess all the advantages of being a nature reserve; they are incredibly clean and untouched. During our visit, we stuck to the marked paths and, out of respect for nature, didn't move or collect anything. Some boat tours may also offer nature guides who provide information about the island's ecology; if you come across one, it will definitely enrich your experience.

About the Beach: Cala Rossa and Other Beauties

While Cala Rossa is one of Lavezzi's best-known and most photogenic coves, there are many other similarly beautiful small and large beaches and swimming spots to discover on the island.

  • Water and Sand: Cala Rossa is famous for its crystal-clear waters, ranging from turquoise to navy blue, and its fine white sand.
  • Shallowness: The areas near the shore are quite shallow, offering a safe swimming area for children.
  • Underwater: The massive granite rocks submerged underwater and the rich marine life turn this place into an aquarium for snorkelers. Swimming among colorful fish and healthy Posidonia (seagrass) meadows is mesmerizing.
  • Shade: There is almost no natural shade on the island in general, including at Cala Rossa. Bringing your umbrella or beach tent is a must!

Food & Drink: Your Picnic Basket is Your Best Friend!

There are no cafes, restaurants, or markets in the Lavezzi Islands Nature Reserve. Therefore, it's vital to prepare all your food and drinks before leaving Bonifacio.

  • Picnic Shopping: You can buy sandwich ingredients, fruit, water, and snacks from the Monoprix or other local markets in central Bonifacio.
  • Dining in Bonifacio (On Return): If you want to eat in Bonifacio after your island trip:
    • U Capu Biancu (outside Bonifacio, a bit upscale): For a special meal at a restaurant with magnificent views (€50-80).
    • Kissing Pigs (Bonifacio Port): For delicious burgers in a more relaxed atmosphere (€15-25).

Accommodation: Peaceful Nights in Bonifacio

Since the Lavezzi Islands are a day trip, it's most logical to stay in Bonifacio:

  • Hotel Genovese: €200-350/night (In the historic citadel, stylish and scenic).
  • Best Western Roy d'Aragon: €120-200/night (In the port area, a modern option).
  • Camping L'Araguina: €35-55/night (Near Bonifacio, a campsite by the sea). (Prices may vary depending on the season.)

Seasonal Suggestions: The Best Times for Lavezzi

  • Ideal Period: Between May and October are the best times, when boat tours run regularly and you can enjoy the sea.
  • Avoid: Between November and March, boat trips to Lavezzi are usually not available or are very infrequent.
  • Water Temperature: From June to October, the sea water temperature is perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Camping Situation: Absolutely Forbidden!

As the Lavezzi Islands are a Nature Reserve, camping on the islands is strictly and unequivocally forbidden. Adhering to this rule is vital for the preservation of this unique natural environment.

Essentials to Bring!

What you should have in your bag for this unique island getaway:

  • Plenty of water and enough food for the whole day (there's nothing on the island!)
  • High-factor sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • Snorkeling gear and water shoes
  • Swimsuit and towel
  • A large trash bag to bring back all your rubbish (Please leave the island cleaner than you found it!)
  • (Optional) A waterproof bag (for electronics)

PLAGE DE OSTRICONI

PLAGE DE OSTRICONI

Considered one of the gateways to the Balagne region in northwestern Corsica, Ostriconi Beach offers visitors an unforgettable experience with its untouched natural structure, expansive sandy shore, and the tranquil lagoon immediately behind it. (Author's note: The original text's mention of 10km/4 hours likely refers to a more extensive circular route or a different starting point. If you're referring to a specific 10km route, the starting point might need to be confirmed.)
  • Duration: For the walk to the beach and exploration around the lagoon, 1.5-2.5 hours (excluding swimming and observation breaks).

  • Starting Point: Free parking area on the N1197 road (formerly RN197) leading to Ostriconi Beach.

    • From Calvi: Approx. 40 km, 45 minutes.
  • Parking: There is a large and usually free parking area on the N1197 road, where the path to the beach begins.
  • Alternative: Shared taxis from L'Île-Rousse (infrequent services) may pass this way, but it's important to check schedules beforehand and plan your return.

The Trail Experience: From Balagne Countryside to the Lagoon Path

Arriving at Ostriconi is a joy in itself. As you walk from the parking area towards the beach, the typical, peaceful landscapes of Balagne accompany you. The path, winding through olive and fig trees as well as fragrant maquis scrubland, is generally clear, and the risk of getting lost is low. As you approach the beach, in the last 1-2 kilometers, a gentle descent reveals the calm waters of the Ostriconi Lagoon, followed by the turquoise sea. This view truly takes away all your fatigue.

The Lagoon's Surprise: Flamingos! My most unforgettable moment at Ostriconi was encountering a flock of flamingos in the lagoon during an autumn visit. Seeing those elegant birds in their natural habitat was an incredible stroke of luck, as they aren't always there. If you too wish to witness this beauty, your chances might be higher during the spring and autumn migration periods, especially in the early morning hours.

About the Beach: Wild Sands and a Natural Sanctuary

Ostriconi Beach stands out for its breadth and naturalness.

  • Structure: Immediately behind the long, golden sandy beach lies a natural lagoon (Étang de Foce de L'Ostriconi) connected to the sea. This duo forms a unique ecosystem.
  • Activities: On windy days, the beach can become suitable for surfing and other wind sports. The lagoon is a paradise for birdwatchers; besides flamingos, it's possible to see herons and other water birds.
  • Sea: The water is generally clean but can be choppy on windy days. It's advisable to be cautious when entering the sea.
  • Shade: Natural shade areas on the beach are quite limited.

Food & Drink: A Flavor Stop in L'Île-Rousse

There are no food or drink facilities at Ostriconi Beach or around the lagoon. You will need to get all your supplies from the nearest large town, L'Île-Rousse:

  • Le Grillon (L'Île-Rousse Center): For pizza and local dishes in a more relaxed atmosphere (€20-30).
  • Carrefour Market (L'Île-Rousse): For picnic supplies, water, and all other supermarket needs.

Accommodation: Options in L'Île-Rousse and Surroundings

For your Ostriconi trip, you can consider accommodation in L'Île-Rousse or its nearby surroundings:

  • Hotel Liberata (L'Île-Rousse): €150-250/night (A chic boutique hotel).
  • Splendid Hotel (L'Île-Rousse): €100-180/night (Close to the beach, central location).

Seasonal Suggestions: The Best Times for Ostriconi

  • For Birdwatching: The best times are the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) migration periods. Being around the lagoon in the early hours increases your chances.
  • Wind Conditions: In summer, the wind can pick up in the afternoons, which is good news for surfers but might make morning hours more appealing for those seeking calm seas.

Although there is no official campsite at Ostriconi Beach, some travelers can be seen "wild camping." If this is your preference, please remember to take all your trash with you, do not light fires, and protect the environment. For the nearest well-equipped campsites, look towards L'Île-Rousse and its surroundings.

  • (If applicable) Your surfing or windsurfing equipment

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CORSICA

Corsica is an island waiting to be discovered not only for its natural beauty but also for its unique culture and lifestyle. Here are some general recommendations and tips to keep in mind before your trip to this unique island:

Best Time to Visit: When to Go?

To fully enjoy Corsica, May-June and September-October are definitely ideal. During these periods:

  • The weather is generally mild and sunny.
  • The sea water temperature is quite suitable for swimming.
  • Tourist crowds are much smaller, especially compared to July-August.
  • Nature displays its most vibrant colors, and the weather is not oppressive for hiking.

Currency and Budget: How Much to Spend?

  • Currency: The official currency in Corsica is the Euro (€).
  • Daily Budget: This entirely depends on your travel style.
    • Budget Traveler: If you prefer camping, preparing your own meals, and using public transport (though infrequent), a daily budget of around €50-80 might be possible. However, note that this is a rather tight budget and covers accommodation (including campsite fees) and basic necessities.
    • Mid-Range Traveler: When hotel/guesthouse stays, some meals eaten out, and car rental are added, the daily budget can rise to €100-150 per person and above.
  • General Notes:
    • Food: A main course in restaurants averages around €15-25. You can make your meals cheaper by shopping at local markets.
    • Fuel: Petrol and diesel prices in Corsica are generally a bit more expensive than on mainland France and the European average.

Language: Communicating with the Islanders

  • Official Language: The official language of the island is French.
  • Local Language: Corsican (Corsu) is part of the island's rich cultural heritage and is frequently heard in daily life. Although it remained in the background for many years, the use and teaching of Corsican have recently been revived.
  • English: It's generally possible to find someone who speaks English, especially in tourist areas' hotels, restaurants, and shops.
  • Tip for Connecting with Locals: Corsicans are quite attached to their language and culture. Trying to learn and use a few basic Corsican words can bring a sincere smile to the faces of locals and may open warmer doors for you. Here are a few simple examples:
    • Hello / Good day: Bonghjornu
    • Good morning: Bona matina
    • Good day (when parting): Bona ghjurnata
    • Good evening: Bona sera
    • Good night: Bona notte
    • Goodbye / See you later: À dopu

Culture and Etiquette: Respect for Nature and People

Corsicans are deeply connected to their island's natural beauty and show it great respect. They expect the same sensitivity from you during your visit:

  • Don't Litter: Never leave your trash in nature or populated areas. If possible, carry it with you and dispose of it in a proper bin.
  • Don't Be Noisy: Avoid making noise, especially in natural areas and quiet villages.
  • Don't Harm Wildlife: Don't pick plants, disturb animals, and try to stay on marked trails.

Safety: For a Peaceful Holiday

Corsica is generally a very safe island. Crime rates are low. However, as always, it's wise to take basic precautions:

  • Sea: Be careful of currents when swimming in the sea, especially on windy days or in lesser-known coves.
  • Mountains: If you're hiking in mountainous areas, remember that weather conditions can change rapidly. Take appropriate gear (raincoat, layered clothing) and water. Informing someone about your route is also a good precaution.
  • Valuables: Be careful not to leave your valuables visible on the beach or in your car.

Health: A Healthy and Enjoyable Trip

  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC): If you are an EU citizen, your EHIC card is valid in Corsica and will assist you in emergency medical situations.
  • Sun Protection: The Corsican sun is very strong, especially in summer. It's essential to use high-factor sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect against sunstroke and sunburn. Don't forget to drink plenty of water.

"As you explore these unique routes, please always be respectful of nature. Our aim is not just to take magnificent photos and collect beautiful memories, but also to leave these beauties intact for future generations. Leave only footprints, take nothing else."

Heed Corsica's Call!

Corsica... I think we've now discovered together that it's an island far beyond the postcard-perfect beaches that spring to many of our minds. Every trail, every cove I've shared with you on these pages is not just a route for me; they are sacred escapes where I've touched the island's soul, merged with its wild beauty, and collected unforgettable memories.

The sweat mingling with the fragrant maquis, the ache in tired legs, the sweet thrill of sometimes losing your way, and then the bliss of surrendering yourself to the turquoise waters in those untouched coves... This is a feeling that's hard to describe in words, but once experienced, it's addictive. These trail-to-beach experiences that Corsica offers promise not only magnificent landscapes but also precious moments where you can be alone with yourself, connect with nature, and perhaps rediscover your limits.

The five routes featured in this guide are just a small fraction of the endless exploration possibilities the island offers. Each has its own character, its own challenges, and its own unique rewards. I hope these lines have sparked a curiosity within you to embark on your own Corsican adventure, to find your own secret coves, your own favorite trails.

Remember, the most beautiful journeys sometimes begin with a single step. Pack your bag, take your water and that indispensable picnic basket, and heed Corsica's enchanting call. When you set out, please remember that you are a guest in this island's fragile beauty. Respect nature, leave only your footprints behind, and savor every moment of this unique experience.

Who knows, perhaps on your next Corsican adventure, we'll cross paths on a trailside, in the shadow of a Genoese tower, or in the cool waters of a turquoise cove!

Happy exploring!
